Nature study is a popular activity at Cantigny Park.
We often hear visitors say that Cantigny Park has something for everybody, and we agree! Our museums, gardens, picnic grounds, restaurants and special events provide hours of family fun.
Cantigny's natural areas and wildlife are worth exploring, too. Did you know that the park features nearly three miles of hiking and nature trails? Or that Cantigny, in the spring and summer, is host to one of the few purple martin colonies in DuPage County?
We are committed to being good stewards of the land that was given to the people of Illinois by Colonel Robert R. McCormick, Cantigny’s benefactor. This commitment is reflected in the estate’s designation as a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, and in our partnerships with the Conservation Foundation and Chicago Wilderness, a regional nature reserve.
Throughout Cantigny we’re stepping up our conservation and nature programs for adults, families, and children. You can expect additional volunteer opportunities as well. We welcome your involvement as we strive to conserve the grounds and open new doors to learning. The natural aspects of this beautiful and diverse 500-acre property are truly a gift to be shared by all.
