Swinging, Hiking, Climbing and More!
Swing
What's more fun than swinging
through the air all the way up to the clouds? Our playground is located north of the main parking lot, past the picnic area. Young visitors will
love the swings, slides, and climbers.
Next to our playground is the ParCourse Fitness Circuit, featuring a vault bar, chin up bar, log hop, and body curl station,
and other challenging stop points. Children can test their endurance, strength, and flexibility on this challenging course.
Restrooms and drinking fountains are located nearby in the picnic area.
Hike
Our nature trail is open for hiking. The wood chip trail is approximately 2 1/2 miles long. A map of the trail can be found inside the Visitors Guide.
Do your children -- or you! -- know what a Black Cherry tree looks like? Could you spot a Horse
Chestnut tree? Test your Tree ID with our Hiking Trail-Tree Identification Guide. Pick one up
at the Visitors Center kiosk during the summer and fall months, and
learn how to identify 20 types of trees.
For the safety of our visitors and the health of our trees, please refrain from climbing trees while visiting Cantigny.
Climb
Help your child climb atop one of our tanks and imagine the life of a tank crew member. The First Division Foundation is proud to have 11 tanks in the Tank Park, in front of and alongside the First Division Museum, as well as an Armored Personnel Carrier and three artillery pieces. They are all inoperable displays of United States Army equipment. Please
remind your children to use caution while climbing.
Each tank is labeled with a sign indicating the type of tank, its weight, years of usage, and number of crew members.

Play
Bring bats, balls, or Frisbees for an
afternoon of catch, or a family home-run derby! Games or sports may be played in the large meadow area on the south side of the public parking lot near the bandshell
or in the parade field in front of the Visitors Center.
Please note: bicycles, rollerblades, scooters and skateboards are not permitted at Cantigny.
