Cantigny Outdoor Concert Series
Illinois Brass Band
Monday, September 6
3pm – 5:00pm
Dedicated to bringing British style brass band music to audiences in Chicago and across the Midwest, George Foster and William Holmer founded The Illinois Brass Band in February of 1991 with assistance from Boosey and Hawkes. Composed of thirty volunteer musicians and the most senior of Illinois’ brass bands, it has astonished audiences with its power, virtuosity, and beauty as well as the breadth of its repertoire. Through performances, recordings, and participation in competitions and festivals, the Illinois Brass Band continues to bring the excitement of brass band music to general audiences and brass aficionados alike.
All concerts are outdoors and feature lawn seating. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets, and picnics are welcome. Concessions are available from Mamie’s Toffee & Treats and Golden Eagle Hotdogs. Concerts take place at the Cantigny bandshell, except as noted, and are free with paid parking.
