Entering grades 3rd-6th
Find out what it really means to act like a girl! Meet famous women from the past and join them in an adventure to shape America. Join the ladies of the Revolutionary War, become a scientist for a day, and see if you have what it takes to make it through basic training. This camp will investigate the often overlooked, but always important contributions girls have made in American history!
Start off Girl’s History week right with fun interactive games and activities as we begin learning about woman who made a tremendous impact in history. And we will even have a surprise visit from a famous woman that will tell us about her amazing accomplishments. You won’t want to miss it!!
Learn to speak up and out at Lucy Burn’s Suffrage School. Inspired by classes organized by the National Women’s Party, campers will learn the history of the women’s suffrage movement, participate in a mock debate game, and create a suffrage rosette to wear our cause on our lapels.
Join us as we learn about the women of the 18th century. We will look at how women helped during the Revolutionary War. Then we’ll discover chores like sewing and butter making. It wasn’t all work though — we’ll look at fashion and fun as well!
Whether at home or at the front, girls will learn about the roles of women during WWII. From factories to our own home, girls will have a chance to hear about changing roles for women and produce some fun home front inspired projects. Ladies will then go, through a modified boot camp and learn what it took for a woman to make it in the military during WWII. After a demonstration of WWII field nursing, girls will practice their bandaging skills and learn about emergency triage.
Join us as we become female scientists for a day. After learning about some of the contributions women have made in science throughout history we will put our scientist hats on and do our own exploring and experimenting. Join us on line ready to explore with hands-on experiments and discovery.
Activity materials will be available for pick-up at the park one week before program. Please note that times may vary between 1 1/2-2 hours each day, depending on project accomplishment times. Some sessions will be live while others are pre-recorded.
