Lunch & Learn – Virtual
Civil War Medicine
Virtual program offered online via Zoom
12pm – 1pm
Free program, but registration is required
Ages: 14 & Up
Join us for a lunch and learn on the third Thursday of the month, March through December! We’ll be exploring topics related to Cantigny Park and local history. Civil War medicine might not seem like local history, but Amy McCormick’s father was Dr. Bernard Irwin, who was a surgeon in the American Civil War. While we’re virtual, we couldn’t resist the chance to learn more about Civil War medicine!
Join our speaker from the American Civil War Museum to learn more about medical practices of the Civil War. Through the use of PowerPoint and reproduction 19th century medical equipment, this program will examine medical practices of the Civil War highlighting the causes of disease, the organization of the hospital system, the treatment of wounded soldiers, and the contributions of medical personnel.
This program includes built-in closed captioning through Zoom.
