Lunch & Learn: Ida B. Wells

Online presentation via Zoom
12pm – 1pm
Free program, but registration is required
Ages 14 & Up

Join us on the third Thursday of the month March through December for a lunch and learn opportunity! We’ll be exploring topics related to Cantigny Park and local history.

Ida B. Wells is one of the most remarkable women in American history. But only in the past five years has the public at-large come to know her. This presentation will explore Wells’ commitment to education, her career as a landmark investigative reporter, her activism and importance in Chicago life, and the challenges that she faced in juggling both her career and familial responsibilities.

“There are only a handful of historical figures that I consider ‘heroes’ and Wells is one of them. She was truthful to an extreme and not afraid to be controversial. She was a believer in justice, equality and opportunity. I simply want more people to learn about her.” – Gerald R. Butters, Jr., PhD. Professor of History at Aurora University
