Step out in style and join us for an evening of big band classics performed by Shout Section Big Band!
Go back in time and dress the part while enjoying classic swing tunes as we commemorate the anniversary of the U.S. Army’s 1st Infantry Division, the “Big Red One.” Capture your best vintage look at our 1940s-themed photo station starring a World War II-era military vehicle. Feel free to explore the First Division Museum (and the new “65 Years” exhibit) before or after the Big Band performance.
A nice selection of favorite food trucks will be on site, or feel free to pack a picnic. The Cantigny food and beverage team will offer a specially themed cocktail. On this night, the drink is El Diablo (Tequila, Creme de Cassis, Ginger Ale, and Lime Juice). Beer and wine will be available, too, including refreshing Cantigny Kolsch, brewed for us by 93 Octane Brewery in St. Charles.
This event is weather pending. All concerts are outdoors and feature lawn seating. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Standard etiquette applies. Be respectful of your neighbors so that everyone can enjoy the concert. No smoking in the seating area. No pets.
MEET THE BAND: The Shout Section Big Band is a 15-20 piece jazz orchestra established in 2007. Since then, they’ve been entertaining audiences at swing dances, weddings, corporate events, city concerts, festivals, and schools all over the Midwest. Shout Section has been featured on WGN TV, WBEZ radio, Jazz/Swing Radio Stockholm, Sweden, and on the nationally syndicated television show, “Vampire Diaries.” The band has shipped four major albums with another on the way in 2023. Amazon.com hired SSBB to perform 1940s swing for the opening of the Amazon Prime series “A League of Their Own,” which depicts the famous WWII-era women’s baseball league. Staffed by some of the finest musicians in Chicagoland, Shout Section is big-time fun—no other big band performs with their level of electric energy! Known for their hip catalogue of 1930s, 40s, 50s and 60s music, the band is also known for lively, swing-danceable arrangements of modern pop tunes with a ‘40s retro vibe.
