Greenhouse
If you’ve ever attended one of our Greenhouse Open House days, you’ll know that our greenhouse really doesn’t show its age, the old girl is now over 25.
You might be a bit surprised that when it was built in 1987, it was a state-of-the-art facility and is still quite modern in greenhouse comparisons. The 18,500 square foot building cycles through three seasons of annuals, perennials and cut flowers with the fourth season featuring our poinsettia crop. The nearly ½ acre structure accommodates annuals, perennials, natives, tropical and cut flowers for both the park and golf course. A staff of three full-time and two seasonal employees as well as many volunteers, propagate and produce about ¼ million plants each year of up to 1,100 varieties!
Our greenhouse is open to the public on special occasions (see below.)
Greenhouse Open House
Our open house held the first Sunday in May from 10 am – 3 pm is the perfect opportunity to view our production-style greenhouse. The Greenhouse is brimming with lots of annual flowers designed for summer displays in our golf course and garden beds as well as many native plant seedlings.
