Clover Petal

Stretch your creativity! Complete a variety of activities that will have you finding new ways to use old things, just like Clover! Design a collage using old magazines and make paper while earning your Clover petal.

Rosie Petal

Rosie helps to make the world a better place, and so can you! Participate in a recycling relay and complete a craft that reduces trash. Earn your Rosie petal while making a difference in the world!

Legacy: Citizen: Celebrating Community

Explore our community’s past through symbols and music. Tour the First Division Museum and learn to march like a soldier. Then create a banner and symbols for your Troop to take home.

Legacy: Painting

Explore the world of painting through a variety of small projects. We’ll explore emotions, nature, and storytelling using an assortment of paints. The use of color theory and non-traditional materials are all part of this workshop. Take the learning even further by interviewing an artist! All the requirements are covered to earn the Painting badge.

Skill Building: Home Scientist

Scouts join the Cantigny Military Scientists to complete experiments with kitchen chemistry, static electricity, and some seriously strange science.

Legacy: Drawing

Drawing is the foundation of an amazing artist. Work with various materials, including, but not limited to, ink, pencil, and chalk. Small exercises in cross-hatching, shading, and perspective will be part of the lesson. All the requirements are covered to earn the Drawing badge.

Legacy: Flowers

Take a tour of Cantigny’s greenhouse or gardens to learn more about flowers! Create a masterpiece using fresh flowers, a pressed-flower bookmark, and more! Those completing all activities will earn the Flowers badge.

Skill Building: Detective

The Cantigny Military Police (MPs) are willing to share secrets about coded communication, fingerprinting, and other detective science. The Scouts will use these skills to solve their own mystery.

Skill Building: Geocacher

Tired of being a muggle? If so, join us for an introduction to Geocaching! Learn to use a GPS unit, name waypoints, make a trade item and talk “geospeak.” At the end of the program, you will venture out into the park to find a hidden cache. Four out of five requirements will be covered for the Geocacher badge.

Skill Building: Playing the Past

Learn about famous females from America’s past. Get into character with costume accessories, activities from their daily lives, games, and music.

Legacy: Trees

Dig into the science of trees at Cantigny Park while earning your Trees badge. Put on your naturalist hat and have fun as we branch out to explore trees and their fascinating lives. Leave the program with the ability to identify trees, ways to be creative with art featuring trees, reasons people need trees, and the importance of helping trees thrive.

Skill Building: Night Owl

The world looks different when the lights go out. Explore Cantigny Park at night and create night art. Use a starlight scope and night vision goggles to find beacons and infrared beams. Be ready for anything – the Cantigny woodlands can be very interesting after dark. We suggest pairing this program with a campout.
