SUMMARY:Tulip Sale
DESCRIPTION:Tulip Sale\nVisitors Center\nOn Sale May 8-10 while supplies last \nThe tulips have had their moment — now it’s your turn. \nOn Friday\, May 8\, at 10 am\, a set of pre-bagged tulip bulbs will go on sale\, featuring vibrant varieties pulled from Cantigny’s Spring displays\, including: \n\nBig Ups Blend tulip (red\, orange\, yellow)\nSunglow Blend tulip (yellow\, white)\nExotic Flames Blend tulip (hot pink\, light pink\, white)\nTah Dah mix tulip (red\, golden-orange)\nMagnificent Mile tulip (apricot-gold and red)\nLalibela tulip (red)\nGamay mix tulip (mixed shades of pink-violet\, fuchsia)\nSuncatcher double daffodil (hot orange and yellow)\n\nShoppers are required to pay the regular parking fee.\n\nPurchase Parking \nBags will be available while supplies last. \n \nBulb Care\n\nReplant your pre-loved and lightly used tulip bulbs immediately in spring so you can better see where other bulbs and plants are located in your garden.\nBe gentle with your bareroot tulip plants. Avoid bruising foliage. Make sure the leaves and stem from the bulb are not broken off during transport or handling since these green tissues supply nourishment to the bulb.\nIf you can’t plant them right away\, bulbs may be allowed to dry for 2 to 3 weeks. Then place the bulbs in a mesh bag and store them in a cool\, dry place such as a garage or basement until fall planting.\nPlant your bulbs 4”-6” apart\, at a depth 3x as deep as the height of the bulb (approximately 6”-8”). Fertilize tulips bulbs with a 4-4-2 organic bulb fertilizer or bonemeal in the fall.\nEnjoy next year’s blooms. Just remember that not all modern hybridized tulip varieties are exceptional perennials that reliably come back and bloom perfectly year after year.\nDon’t remove the foliage after planting until it naturally turns yellow\, withers and can be pulled away from the bulb with a gentle tug. Bulbs use their foliage to produce the energy needed to form flowers next year.
